Cyber-Savvy Families Workshop

At Breyta Counseling, we believe that honest dialogue and balance between teens and parents is important to develop a healthy  plan for technology use in the household. Many of the families Ali has encountered over the past six years have struggled with finding a balance of appropriate technology use. The Cyber-Savvy Family workshop will provide a framework for understanding the nuances of technology use in today’s day and age as well as support families to develop constructive strategies to manage cell phone, tablet and laptop use. This half-day workshop will include large group presentation, small group discussion and structured family exercises to collaborate on technology use. This is a good opportunity for kids and parents to work together with a licensed clinician with specific expertise in this area. Workshop participants will learn together about the impact of technology/internet use on brain development as work on problem-solving their specific issues with technology use. The workshop participants will leave with practical strategies to manage internet and technology use and a plan for balanced use.

Who is this workshop for:

  • Families who struggle to find balance with technology use

  • Families who are constantly arguing about technology use, who cannot find an agreed upon solution

  • Families navigating healthy boundaries with social media use, internet games, and/or pornography use

Date of Workshop: Sunday September 23, 2018 Time: 12:30pm-4:30 pm Location: Teter Retreat Center 10980 E 221st Street, Noblesville IN 46062 Cost: $65 for one adolescent and up to two parents. $15 for each additional adolescent if desired. Light refreshments will be provided.
